Monthly Envelopes is devoted to exploring how couples can effectively manage money together. If we can do it, you can do it — and probably three times better than us!

Who we are:

Rather than using fancy budget software like Quicken, Chad and Sarah keep money for their monthly expenses in manila envelopes.

Chad will spend all your money.  Sarah will put it in the bank and lie to you about how she has no money.

Chad likes to buy gadgets — he has a chumby, for Christ’s sake.  Sarah can’t remember the last time she bought anything other than on-sale fabric.

Chad believes money should be used for fun, vacations, eating out, and buying every generation of iPod released.  Sarah believes money should be spent on retirement, savings, NetFlix, and more savings.

We may annoy one another when budget planning, but we feel we strike a pretty good balance between saving money for the future and enjoying it now.
